Who Are We?

Architects at Work

SPACES, the Society for Public Architecture, Construction, Engineering & Surveying, is a multi-disciplinary collaborative society for those working in, or for the public sector. We are committed to assisting our members in achieving high standards in the development, design, construction and management of the public sector estate for the mutual benefit of their employers.

SPACES was formed from the merger of the following:


SCALA - the Society of Construction and Architecture for Local Authorities
SCHEME - 
the Society of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering
 and CBSS The Chief Building Surveyors Society,
serving local government.

PROMOTE

To promote the built environment within local authorities together with high standards of practice to improve safer outcomes and efficiencies

FACILITATE

To provide an environment which facilitates the sharing of knowledge, members' ideas and experiences

DEVELOP

To further develop the skills and expertise of members

REPRESENT

To represent the interests of our members by influencing and commenting on national policy and on Government and institutions committees
